Written report (due this Friday!):
- Introduction to innovation project idea, principles, objective / purpose of the exhibit (Melissa)
- Science behind the exhibit (science of attention, focus, cognitive science, etc.) (Celton)
- Driving simulation walkthrough (Cheryl & Ellen)
- Details on application in smartphone (Param)
- Conclusion (restate objective, and extrapolation) (Brittany)
Celton and Brittany are responsible for editing and final draft.
Presentation outline (Melissa)
• Dramatic intro : (questions like ) what do you relay on technology for? Does it help you in endless ways? Make life more efficient? When you’re in public does everyone you see have a cell phone or iPod or computer on them at all times? Do you feel out of place when you’re too far away from your electronic device? We can agree technology helps us in many ways, but have you become to attached? Constantly using technology may pose as a distraction? Can we really focus with it? Is it hindering our abilities?
• Some facts about how technology has made huge positive impacts in society over the past ten-15 years
• Some facts about how it can negatively affect relationships, abilities, ect
• THE SCIENCE ( talk about the neurological science behind distraction )
• Our exhibit for the WIFIC revolves around the topics just listed. One of society’s major issues is how people text and drive. This simple issue highlights the major question/issue, have we become too attached to technology?
• Instead of talking about our exhibit we are going to demonstrate it through a visitors perspective
• (ROLE PLAY) one of us sits down in a chair facing a computer screen. ( on the overhead projector we could have what the screen would potentially say during the experience)
• Someone could sort of narrate the experience as one of us partakes in it
• We talk about how surrounding the exhibit we would have graphs that would record and display all the visitors who have done this exhibit at the science centre
• We finish by summarizing why our exhibit would be great for the WIFIC centre
